In Other News...

Whew! It's been a busy couple of weeks behind the scenes of Oakland Avenue! Mike and I crashed at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night - I'm unashamed, people, unashamed.

Here are a few things that have been going on. (And some super fun news for YOU at the bottom!)

Twin Cities Moms Blog launched last week with a bang and it's been so fun to read all the contributor's posts and see the awesome giveaways. I wrote a couple posts last week that I'd love for you to check out if you get time.

If you've ever wondered exactly how I Photoshop Eli's onesies for his monthly photo shoots, this post will give you all the deets on how you can do it too. Don't worry, it's so easy, you don't need any prior knowledge of Photoshop to make them.

I also shared New Year's resolutions for the stay-at-home mom - a bit of a tongue-in-cheek post about problems all us momma's share. Pretty sure even if you're not a SAHM, you'll identify with the list.

Annnnnd, I made my first TV debut over the weekend! I went on a local news station here in the Twin Cities and sweated my way through talking about DIY and the Ikea Bekvam step stool hack I completed for Eli's nursery. You guys - I spent 27 minutes on my hair. Twenty seven minutes! I wasn't going to curl it, but lately I've really been trying to give it the old college try at styling and curling. I figured if this was the moment I was going to trip on stage, pitt out in my shirt (100 percent silk - what was I thinking?), or say something I shouldn't, I was going to at least have great hair while I did so. All in all, it turned out okay - although it definitely wasn't perfect. And I had so much more I wanted to say!

Oh, well. If you want to hear my weird voice or incredibly nervous laughter, you can check it out below.

I'll be breaking down the in's and out's of how I completed the green one, although I'm pretty sure you smart people can figure it out if you wanted to. I used a different type of wax on it than I have before when I've used chalk paint, so I'll let you know how that went as well.

Also, TCMB is hosting a launch party at Spill The Wine next Thursday night, January 30. I'll be there nervously sipping my wine (everyone that attends gets a free glass!) and awkwardly trying to be cooler than I am. If you're local, I'd love to see and meet some of you there!

Finally - get excited because I'm hosting my first few giveaways over the next couple of weeks! Bah! It's taken me a while to really pull the trigger on working with sponsored opportunities because I just haven't found the right fit yet. But I'm glad I waited. I'm excited for some of the things I'll be giving away, so keep an eye out and be sure to enter to win. Just a heads up, these are in the DIY category, but I hope to have some "momma/baby" related ones soon too! I've so appreciated all of my reader's support and encouragement over the past year (and those that have been with me from the beginning!) and I want to give you guys a little something back - hopefully these are the first of many giveaways that I can do for you all.
