Eli's First Birthday Crown From Little Love Lane + A Giveaway

As popular as Eli's hair is (and let me tell you, it is VERY popular), I often put him in hats because I think they're just too adorable on him. Anything from a fedora to a stocking hat to a baseball cap, he's worn them all and people are always amazed that he doesn't try to pull them off - but I chalk it up to the fact that he's in one about 50 percent of the time, so it probably feels just about as natural as having hair that sticks up 6" off his head. So when Melissa from Little Love Lane sent me a birthday crown for Eli to wear during his first birthday party, it was the best of both worlds: he could wear a hat, which I love seeing him in, and still let his trademark wild mop stick right out the top.

Plus, what's a birthday without a crown? I've decided that I need to wear one for every birthday here on out. It's a great, subtle way to let everyone know it's your special day without having to actually tell them, don't you think? It's just a bummer Mike wouldn't let me wear one to Eli's party. I mean it's totally my day too, right?

Okay, kinda?

Okay, not at all.

Yes. Fine. Mike reminded me of that about 10,000 times too. Got it. I just forgot for a second. I forget a lot.

Anyway, back to the crown. Little Love Lane was awesome to work with on customizing Eli's birthday crown. Melissa worked through every detail with me from the color and shape to even customizing it with stitching Eli's name on the inside for his memory box. See how adorable this is?

For colors, she can pretty much do anything you'd like - see all the options? She even has glitter fabric, that would be so cute on a little girl!

For the front of the crown, she offers everything from a numeral to the child's name or a combination of both, like this crown from her shop.

I went with "one" spelled out in a simple font, but she can honestly customize it however you want so you can get exactly the look you're going for. Which means these crowns don't just have to be used for a first birthday - they'd be great for really any birthday, or for something like a photoshoot or Halloween or just playing dress up. I loved this idea for a way to announce a pregnancy - a little different from the more traditional t-shirt.

Also, I really liked that the crown uses a velcro closure, which made it easy to get the perfect fit on Eli, tight enough to say up, but not tight enough to bother him so he wasn't tugging at it.
Eventually this crown will go in his memory box, but for now it's hanging out in his room, a fun little reminder of the awesome time we had at his first birthday party.
And today, I'm excited to share that one of you will be winning your own customized crown from Little Love Lane! Again, these crowns can truly be used for tons of different occasions, or are awesome for every day play, so don't feel like you need to have a soon-to-be one year old to enter! And if you don't have kiddos, this would be an awesome birthday gift for a niece, nephew or another little one in your life, so you definitely should enter too. And be sure to check out all the other awesome stuff Little Love Lane sells in their shop - they have awesome party supplies from banners to cake buntings to flower hair crowns - lots of fun things for any celebration.
