3 ways to spice up your video content with this trending strategy

A mix of education and entertainment, edutainment is playful but informative and can go a long way in attracting and holding your audience’s attention. When you’re ready to come up with edutaining video content, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Edutainment is here to stay. Although the illustrator Peter Catalanotto coined the term in the 1990s when he taught his students to write and illustrate, the term “edutainment” is still very relevant today.

You may have noticed the trend on social media by now. In the last few years (and especially in the wake of the pandemic) we have become more and more entertaining video forms and platforms in popularity. Remember: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and even the new YouTube shorts.

It’s hard to ignore the effects they had; D.On top of the negativity of the past year and a half, these fun short videos have been a refreshing escape and a much-needed distraction. And there’s no reason why you can’t create these types of content for your business too.

So how can real estate agents and brokers combine education and entertainment to build their brands, generate more business, and promote more listings? (Don’t worry, I’m not going to suggest you become the next dancing broker on TikTok.)

Let us first consider: What do all these videos have in common? They’re all short – less than a minute long. In fact, the faster and shorter, the better.

Also, most of them rotated vertically, which is the opposite of what we were taught Years. And aWhile I still think that horizontal video has a big place, especially on platforms like YouTube, vertical video is the way to go when it comes to creating effective short content.

The other aspect is, creators often put a lot of fun and creativity into this type of content. So when you’re ready to change your video strategy, here are three ideas for your next edutaining content.

1. You don’t always have to be in front of the camera

Good news, right? The next time you have a new entry, take out your phone and record five to ten clips on your phone that are only a few seconds long. This could be a short video from the kitchen or the back yard. You can also film what it’s like to walk to the house and open the front door.

As mentioned before, you don’t have to be in front of the camera – and neither do your voice. Just make sure you have a handful of house clips to play around with.

Now open TikTok or Instagram Reels, add trendy music and a little text – and voila! You have now created quick and easy content that is informative yet fun and playful at the same time. As a bonus tip, you can even add your brand colors or logo.

2. Tell a story about a milestone

I love using the 1 Second Everyday app which takes a one-second clip over the course of a year and merges it into a single video. This fast and effective tool allows you to view the progress of a project over a year.

For real estate agents, this can mean showcasing a local community, a home under construction, or even the process of bringing a home to market. I often use the 1 Second Everyday app combined withh the video shop app to speed up the video and make something fun and creative.

3. Share a quick tip

What questions do you get asked all the time that you can answer in less than 30 seconds? Make a list of 10-15 quick tips to give when it comes to your community, moving house, moving house, putting up a house, buying a house, and more.

If you want to record each video, record some clips separately instead of recording all of them. You can include a short introduction, then two or three dots, and then a separate clip for the end.

Next, open Instagram Reels or TikTok, upload each of these clips, add a little text, and off you go! Now you’ve created great content that is quick but also extremely helpful – one that can help you establish yourself as an authority in your region.

The key to incorporating edutainment into your content in 2021 and 2022 is to have a plan for planning, creating, editing, and then distributing your content.
