This recipe is comfort food at its best! Serve with mashed potatoes and you have a wonderful meal.
Servings: 8th Servings
- 1 1/2 lb Stew meat or sirloin tips
- 1 medium onion cut into rings
- 3 to 4 tablespoon Olive oil or cooking oil
- 1/2 Cup All-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 10.5 ounce cans of beef broth
- 1 Package of onion soup mix
- 1/2 Cup water
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcester sauce
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Optional
Heat the oil in the pan and fry the onions. Take out the onions and put them in a saucepan. Mix the flour, salt, garlic powder and black pepper in a bowl. Roll the meat in the flour mixture and fry in a pan where you have browned the onions until they are browned.
Put the meat in the pot. If you have flour in the bowl from dredging the meat, leave it in the bowl and add the 2 cans of beef broth, 1 packet of onion soup mix, 1/2 cup of water, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and whisk everything together. Pour over the meat and onions in the saucepan
Cook for 6 to 7 hours on low or 4 to 5 hours on high. If you want the sauce to be thicker, remove 1/2 cup of sauce and stir in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and add it back to the saucepan. Cook on high for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Makes about 8 servings.
