Bacon, fried and crumbled

All-purpose flour

Garlic powder

Strips of bacon


sour cream



Spring onions (could use normal)

Apples (any type of apple will work)

Shredded cheddar cheese, divided

  • 5 or 6 pieces of bacon fried and crumbled
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon Roast bacon
  • 6th tablespoon butter melted
  • 1/3 Cup sour cream
  • 2/3 Cup Buttermilk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup chopped green onions could use regularly
  • 1 Cup chopped peeled apples (any apple variety works)
  • 1 Cup grated cheddar cheese divided
  • Boil the bacon, drain, crumble and set aside, keeping 2 tablespoons of bacon strips. Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and garlic powder together.

  • Add the bacon strips, melted butter, sour cream, buttermilk and eggs. Stir with a spoon until everything is well mixed. Fold in chopped green onions, apples, and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Mix.

  • Spray a 9 x 5 bread pan with cooking spray and pour your batter into the pan. Scatter the other 1/2 cup of cheese on the batter in your pan and add the crumbled bacon over the cheese.

  • Bake in the preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour until the bread test occurs in the middle, as the ovens vary.

  • Makes 1 bread.
