CHICKEN NOODLE Casserole – The Southern Lady Cooks

Chicken noodle casserole is an old fashioned dish that my family loves!

My family loves a good casserole and this one is definitely a favorite. I made this dish with chicken and turkey and we love it both ways. I think this recipe makes the perfect weekday dinner. I’ve also taken it to numerous potlucks and came home with an empty bowl! People rave about the cracker topping.

Ingredients required for the chicken noodle casserole

Chicken or Turkey, cooked and chopped

Egg noodles, cooked

Onion, chopped

Cream of Mushroom Soup (see our recipe to make your own cream soups)

Cream of Chicken Soup

sour cream

Black pepper


Sliced ​​mushrooms, drained

Cheddar cheese, grated

Cheese crackers or cracked crackers crumbs

Butter or margarine, melted

Almond slivers, optional

Recipe Notes: This dish is good to reheat if you have leftovers. This recipe can easily be cut in half for two people. You can also try this dish with ham.

  • 4th cups Chicken or turkey boiled and chopped
  • 6th Ounces Egg noodles cooked
  • 1/4 Cup onion chopped
  • 1 10 3/4 Unccan Cream of Mushroom Soup (See our recipe to make your own cream soups
  • 1 (10 3/4 Unccan cream of chicken soup
  • 3/4 Cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (4 Unccan sliced ​​mushrooms drained
  • 1 Cup Cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 Cup Cheese crackers or cracked crackers crumbs
  • 2 tablespoon butter or margarine melted
  • 1/4 Cup Sliced ​​almonds Optional
  • Combine cooked chicken and pasta and place in a 2-quart baking dish. Combine onion, mushroom soup, chicken soup, sour cream, pepper, salt, and mushrooms. Add to the chicken and pasta.

  • Mix the grated cheese and cracker crumbs with butter and spread on the casserole. Scatter the almonds on top. Bake in the preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
