Companies are asked about their thoughts on plans to develop standard measures on how building can improve equality and diversity among employees.
The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is developing proposals to introduce a common set of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) metrics for the industry.
The proposal, to which the CLC committed itself earlier this year as part of its qualification plan, aims to ensure that companies have access to better information on the composition of the workforce.
The CLC said it hoped this would increase the construction’s ability to reflect the communities in which it operates across the UK.
The organization said developing an industry standard approach would also help streamline data collection for businesses.
Companies are only asked to collect this information once, with the CLC saying they could make better use of it by being able to compare themselves to their peers.
The consultation launched yesterday is live and will remain open until September 7th.
EDI measurement and monitoring is to be introduced by the end of next year.
