EQUANS will build 268 homes on the site as part of a broader partnership that includes QWEST, Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Riverside Group.
The consortium has secured Homes England Accelerated Construction Funding to complete the project.
EQUANS has also worked with environmental verifiers to advance an energy strategy that goes beyond the planning policies of Cheshire West and Chester Council and will support its broader net-zero carbon ambitions. This includes the use of improved building materials, highly efficient heating systems and photovoltaic (PV) solar modules on every property in order to optimize sustainability.
Several other additional environmental improvements will also be incorporated into the site, including the creation of new ponds and seven new lawn play areas for the community; as well as a new footpath leading to additional areas of Winsford.
Tim Wood, Regional Managing Director at EQUANS UK & Ireland (North West), said: “We are excited to work with key partners to deliver this innovative housing project and create a new, low-carbon neighborhood for the Cheshire community.
“Sustainability and modern construction methods are the core of this program and the heart of our business strategy – as we want to support our partners in mastering the energy transition and working towards a net-zero-carbon future.”
Last month, ENGIE announced the founding of EQUANS, which bundles its worldwide service activities under a new brand.
In Great Britain and Ireland, all of ENGIE’s activities in the areas of technical services, building management, construction and regeneration as well as its energy competencies in the areas of smart buildings, green mobility, district heating and embedded energy as well as renewable energies are now all offered under the EQUANS brand.
